Stop number two of the Crappie Masters National Qualifier was on beautiful Lake D’Arbonne. This stop was hosted by the Union Parish Chamber of Commerce, Union Parish Police Jury, Union Parish Tourist Commission, Town of Farmerville and the Louisiana Office of Tourism Explore Louisiana. This is always a favorite stop for the anglers as everyone loves this fishery.
We had 58 teams from many states participating in this tournament all hoping to catch two limits of crappie to win the first-place trophy and the prize money of $7,500. The people of Farmerville always support the anglers and the crowds at the weigh-in both days were outstanding.
Day one weigh in was on the banks of Lake Darbonne at Rhett’s Tails and Shells. The father and son team of RJ and Zack Hargett took the lead on day one with a weight of 11.12lbs.
Not far behind was the team Ryan Hanson and Junior Dye who had a great bag of 10.72lbs. This local team had a lot of determination to come back and win on their home lake.
Finishing out the top 5 for day one was Kayle Ward and Dillion Gossett with a weight of 10.57lbs, a local favorite team of Chris Fields and Jared Riser with a weight of 10.37 and close behind Frank Haidusek with a weight of 10.33 lbs.
The amazing citizens of Farmerville, Louisiana showed out and truly brought the great atmosphere to championship Saturday. The local team of Ryan Hanson and Junior Dye made an amazing comeback with a weight of 10.56lbs to make their total weight for the tournament 21.28lbs. Hanson and Dye knew that every ounce mattered, especially since they only won by 12 ounces! It was a great victory for the team and for their winnings they got to bring home a check worth $7,500.00, the beautiful first place trophy and the title of Crappie Master’s 2024 Lake D’Arbonne Champions!
Kayle Ward and Dillion Gossett took home second place with a total weight of 21.16lbs. Their jump from third place on day 1 to second place on day 2 allowed them to bring home a check worth $3,500.00.
Finishing off the top 3 was father and son team RJ and Zack Hargett with a total weight of 20.48lbs. This finished earned them the top adult/youth finish in the tournament and a check worth $2,500.00.
