Grenada Lake, Grenada, Mississippi, March 22, 23, 2019

The runner up position was filled by the Oklahoma team of Robert Carlile and Craig Nichols who nearly gained their second Crappie Masters victory of the season weighing in 32.06 pounds over the two tournament days and walked away with a check for $3,100.00. Carlile and Nichols stuck to their preferred fishing technique and single poled purple and chartreuse custom hair Jigs in 15 foot of water targeting quality fish suspended 3 feet down with the help of their electronics, Minn Kota Trolling Motor, and Mercury Motor to make the critical moves needed to claim the second place position. Carlile and Nichols are sponsored by Huckabee Rods, Dunkin Jigs, and Lowrance.

Third place went to the current Crappie Masters Angler Team of the Year Barry Morrow and Chad Maupin with 31.84 pounds weighed in, good for a $2,000.00 check and a great bounce back from the previous tournament at Lake Washington where they experienced engine issues. Morrow and Maupin spider rigged B’n’M Poles in 12 feet of water, catching their fish 4 foot deep using 3 inch black and chartreuse, and orange and chartreuse Bobby Garland Slab Slay’Rs. The duo also credited their Humminbird and Minn Kota Combo as a key to their success. Morrow and Maupin are sponsored by Bobby Garland, Beaver Bottom Baits, Everharts Outdoor Store, Huckabee Rods, Crappietown Jigs, Stump Jumper, Off Shore Tackle, Puddle Jumpers, Electra Air, and Perotti Rod Holders.

Fourth place and $1,725.00 went to the team of David Harley and Don Rossman weighing in a solid 31.10 pounds.

Rounding out the top five was the team of Danny Darnall and Kevin Murphy who weighed 29.14 pounds good for a $1,450 check.

Big Fish went to the team of Wade Recker and Matt Mavigliano whose day one 2.98 dandy held up and awarded the team a check for $980.00.

The second place big fish money went to Robert Catron and Matt Hall whose 2.94 pounder got them $420.00 to take home.

A very touching story happened in the Adult/Youth category as the team of Brandon Fulgham and young Jake Hood whose father Bob passed away just a few months ago wanted to carry on his dad’s tradition of fishing on his home Grenada Lake waters. For his first Crappie Masters event, Jake and Brandon won a $100.00 Everharts Outdoor Store gift card and a Minn Kota Edge Trolling Motor outweighing others in the category weighing in an impressive 21.39 pounds.
