Lake D’Arbonne, LA Tournament Preview: 2022 Crappie Masters Stop #2

The Crappie Masters All American Tournament Trail is set to return to beautiful Lake D’Arbonne in Farmerville, LA this weekend, February 25th & 26th, for the second National Qualifier event of the 2022 Season.

This tournament is hosted by the Town of Farmerville, Union Parish Police Jury, Union Parish Tourist Commission & the Union Parish Chamber of Commerce, and presented by CarZone USA. Weigh-in for both days will be at Rhett’s Tails and Shells.

Lake D’Arbonne is full of crappie from one end to the other so this weekend we will see many teams come across the stage with a full limit of fish on both days. One of the keys for victory this weekend will be to have a kicker fish each day to separate yourself from the rest of the field.

WHAT’S HAPPENING RIGHT NOW ON LAKE D’ARBONNE:

Right now, the fish are on the move with most of them starting to make the transition from their winter pattern to spawning areas due to the water temperature creeping up into the low to mid-50s.

Where are these fish going to be moving to?

Most of these Lake D’Arbonne crappie will start leaving the main river channel (where they have been for most of the winter) and start heading towards the many flats that this lake has to offer. Many of these flats are full of stumps, which makes for a great spawning area for these fish.

This weekend, Crappie Masters anglers will be faced with finding the flats that these fish are moving to or finding a “transition area,” which is an area that the fish are funneling through to move up to the spawning areas.

Along with these fish moving day by day to new areas, anglers will also be faced with a lot of rain during pre-fishing days. With Lake D’Arbonne having the Ouachita River running through it, the water levels have a chance to rise, which can sometimes make finding these fish and getting them to bite very tough.

WEIGHTS TO EXPECT:

There is no doubt the weights will be tight on Lake D’Arbonne this weekend, so the one kicker fish a day could make all the difference.

“I expect to see a couple of teams break that 30lb mark over two days of competition along with the CarZone USA big fish nearing that 3lb mark,” stated Blake Jackson, Tournament Director of Crappie Masters.

With so many different techniques and areas of the lake that will be in play this week on Lake D’Arbonne, stay tuned to Crappie Masters Facebook page for pre-tournament interviews starting on Thursday, Feb. 24th.

Then, on Friday and Saturday, tune in to watch your favorite teams come across the stage and share what technique they are using to put some giant crappie in the boat during our Live Stream Weigh-Ins.
